These alternate instruction are to prepare a "CBL2 board" for
use with the original CBL. If that is not your plan, click here to return
to the primary instructions.
The cable from the CBL uses
a 6-conductor phone wire, so we can use a phone jack to make our
connection with the board. (Most house phone jacks in the US have 6
positions,
but only 4 conductors (6P4C). Be careful if you try to substitute
parts purchased locally that you are using 6P6C components.)
Feed the wires trough the large holes as
shown to provide mechanical protection. Solder joints provide good
electrical connections, but they should not be expected to provide
strain relief as well.
One at a time, solder the wires in the positions
shown. Carefully trim each wire, and make sure there are no solder
bridges. The table below shows the color pattern as viewed from the
top of the board.
